I heard something on the radio this morning about a survey that was done of late about the phenomenal amount of food we waste per houshold.
A lot of it is things like buying bread and ham and cheese and stuff in order to make ourselves a cheap lunch and then when we get up of a morning we can't be bothered. So what do we do? We buy lunch out costing about three or four quid and in the next couple of days we throw the things in the fridge out and chuck the slightly mouldy bread! Crazy huh?
And this is just one incident of wasting good food. We all do it and I certainly know I've done it. So, why the blog?
Well, yours truely is watching the pennies at the moment as I am still out of work. What I have decided to do as an experiment is to see how long I can last just using up the bits and pieces I have stored in my cupboards and fridge. I will allow myself to buy fresh veg and I am going to be strict with myself about 'just nipping' to the local Co-op to get a pizza or such. And that includes my habit of getting a couple of beers while i'm there too. Wish me luck!
Anybody else got any good ideas for an economy drive with food?

Hi, its good on your part that you have decided to decrease the waste, this is in fact a good habit which will fetch you in a long term.
